Last Interior

img_0692Bedroom  36″ x 36″  Oil on Canvas, 2009

Last of the series.  If you haven’t noticed yet, I’ll let in on a little secret.  In each of these I’ve painted blood, partially concealed by furniture or shadow.  The series isn’t meant to be taken literally, in the case of domestic violence or abuse, (although it could, and some have already interpreted them that way).  I feel like they’re more about secrecy, and dark things we choose to keep to ourselves in our lives.  I’m open to interpretation though…

Interior II

I’ll post these in the order they were completed.  It’s funny, the things we’re drawn to paint, and the things we end up enjoying the most.  In this case, I was excited to do the shower curtain, and though it’s satisfying, the tiles and little potted plants ended up yielding what seemed to be the center of interest in the painting.

Dandelion Show

crosswalkers

Crosswalkers 22″ x 25″ Charcoal on Paper, 2009

Opening Reception:  Monday, April 20th at 6pm at Seeds Gallery, 1892 Hollis Street, Halifax

This is a NSCAD painting and drawing department show.  I’ll have 4 or 5 paintings and drawings in the exhibit, work that I’ve done over the past semester.  There will be a lot of excellent stuff at this show, at really low, affordable prices, the show runs until the 2nd of May, so I highly recommend anyone in the HRM to swing by and get while the gettin’s good!
